GLASS PLATE NEGATIVE SUFFOLK VILLAGE (CAME FROM A COLLECTION OF SUFFOLK NEGATIVES) NICE RURAL IMAGE CIRCA 1890 from the Village of Stoke By Clare. The Horse-Age is coming to an end after 2,000 years of providing mankinds transport service. PLATE IS APPROX 6 ½ X 4 ½ INCHES EMULSION IS PITTED LOWER EDGE & RIGHT HAND CORNER. A FEW SCRATCHES AND SLIGHT CHIP IN GLASS ON EDGE OF PLATE NOT AFFECTING IMAGE NOT THE BEST OF CONDITION BUT STILL PRODUCES A NICE CLEAR PICTURE OF VILLAGE GREEN in the Village of Stoke By Clare, SUFFOLK ? This negative is a fine reminder of mans reliance on horse-back, chariot, waggon, cart or carriage, from the only form of land travel possible until the 1840s and then the first steam engines. This negative is linking us from our first horse-drawn transport to the coming of a New Age of organic multi-fuelled Cars. Water and organic fuel of the past, upto our present and future.
